5.12.19: Naomi The Exile
Ruth is the Old Testament book most closely associated with the season between Passover and Pentecost. It tracks the seemingly insignificant plight of a mother and her daughter-in-law returning from a season of self-imposed exile to their ancestral village of Bethlehem at the start of the barley harvest. Yet, it’s a story with profound implications for all of our lives; how people like us who are exiles and strangers - far from the purposes of God - can be redeemed, bought back, and adopted into His family.
